Just weeks after retiring, former chief superintendent Mick Stamper who spent 30 years protecting the Northamptonshire public, has decided to tell all about working for Nick Adderley
I feel the complex infrastructure of the police and the issue of fraud is explained in great detail. so a layman, such as myself, can understand it.
The problem is clear, from this article that from day one a lack of robust scrutiny and attention to detail was lacking. With recruitment, infrastructure and atitudes a) innaffective employment of Adderley b) with the unscrupulous four promotions of Colleen Rattigan c) promotions to sergeants leaving an inexperienced groundforce d) an inneffective HR structure that is not allowing staff to speak up annonymously about issues so if you speak up you are compromised.
Northampton is such a mess I fear but I hope and pray we are starting to see a deconstruction of Police, Council and Political powers that may give the Northampton people the support they deserve.
None of this exposure would be happening without the groundbreaking NN Journal and Sarah Ward.
It all reveals the absurdity of the creation of Police Commissioners .Governments prefer to centralise and and concentrate power in fewer and fewer hands ,The old Police Authority was a largely elected body with directly elected members and then appointed members representing different geographical areas, communities and interests. When it came to appointing officers of ACPO rank there was a panel f members with an external ACPO officer offering advice. Because that was a fairly small world CV's would be known as indeed would skills and performance. Northamptonshire force had a reputation for innovation and forward thinking and attracted excellent candidates. The current structure encourages cronyism and all levels NN Journal is the only place where real investigative journalism exists,
This report just sums up what can happen in any organisation that does not have a moral compass and ethics and becomes vulnerable to an individual who was on a lifetime mission to dictate and rule.
With the changes to the Police and Fire Commissioner, new Chief Constable, new MPs and new government there is a clear opportunity to reset the the relationship between the police and the public and start as we all want things to go on.
This opportunity will not last forever so we will be looking for the journalists such as we have here to press for change.
The old order has gone so lets see what the new order can achieve?
As a C/Supt in your final years you had the platform to challenge. You chose to stay silent. If you couldn't muster the courage to stand tall in uniform don't snipe from the sidelines in civilian attire.
More excellent work by NNJ. As others say in these comments, the only real journalism happening in our county at the moment. Do get all your friends to subscribe or we may lose this important public service.
Well done Mick Stamper! very brave! Thank you for what you have done here, for standing up to this 'nutter', for being interviewed and speaking up now and for 30 years of service.
FYI I've found what seems to be another connection between Nunn and NorPol showing how they were protecting him. Slowly as those in power get weeded out you may see more people coming out of the woodwork like this
Excellent piece to read NNJournal, gives more insight from the people that worked with him.
Wow, what an article! It should win an award!

I agree
Reading this piece reminded me of the symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder. People with the disorder can:
- Have an unreasonably high sense of self-importance and require constant, excessive admiration.
- Feel that they deserve privileges and special treatment.
- Expect to be recognized as superior even without achievements.
- Make achievements and talents seem bigger than they are.
- Be preoccupied with fantasies about success, power, brilliance, beauty or the perfect mate.
- Believe they are superior to others and can only spend time with or be understood by equally special people.
- Be critical of and look down on people they feel are not important.
- Expect special favours and expect other people to do what they want without questioning them.
- Take advantage of others to get what they want.
- Have an inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others.
- Be envious of others and believe others envy them.
- Behave in an arrogant way, brag a lot and come across as conceited.
- Insist on having the best of everything — for instance, the best car or office.
Donald Trump also displays these symptoms.

I'm sure Chief Supernintendo Stamper being sidelined was nothing to do with him being a mediocre senior leader.
Shame on you. I thought better of you.
As a C/Supt in your final years you had the platform to challenge. You chose to stay silent. If you couldn't muster the courage to stand tall in uniform don't snipe from the sidelines in civilian attire.
This cheapens your otherwise strong legacy.
