I cannot believe what I’m reading. HOW can it be possible this is allowed to happen? I’m aghast.

I dont think its enough to share outrage. The public has to stand up and contact their councillors and keep the pressure up. This is beyond apalling.

Although not a Labour person, I fully endorse their stance on this. Living outside the towns that usually are awarded grants and s106 monies, it cuts deep to know that these vanity projects continue to be funded in preference to where monies are needed rather than being paid to those in desire. The clock is ticking and in a couple of years we can change this instead of being complicit by voting the wrong way.

I am furious beyond belief on behalf of rural communities too. We pushed hard for rural public transport to be part of the levelling up agenda. It fits all the criteria (supporting high streets, green agenda, jobs, mental and physical well-being).

It would be a travesty for these bids to succeed as it levels up nothing, in fact, quite the contrary... It widens the divide.

A cosy Conservative cabal has pushed their own agenda with these vanity projects with no thought to the real needs of the real people in their communities. More kudos to NNJ for bringing this situation to the attention of the wider community. The Tory tyrants would slip these bids through without anyone knowing if they could. An absolute disgrace.
