I don't even think it was maladministration, I think it was downright illegal what they did.

I struggle to find sympathy for the WASPI women. The example given of Janet "expecting to retire in 2013 subsequently had to work several years more due to sudden changes in the law" is ridiculous. The law changed in 1995, 18 years before Janet was due to retire. We can discuss whether 18 years is sufficient notice, but it certainly doesn't qualify as "sudden"!
