This is so frustrating as behind all these numbers are children who despite schools best endeavours are not having their needs met due to lack of funding, placements not being correct, time scales not being met and lack of communication from the local authority. It's the children and families who are not getting what they need, even when eventually an EHCP plan is issued in many cases. I hope that Charlotte Franks can make changes to support our children and that she has a strong team with her as this can not just go on with the LA saying we know it's not good enough and nothing changing or improving. Communication to schools and families is key to move forward and some open and probably difficult conversations need to be had!

who made this prediction? what evidence was it based on? In the subsequent EAP Future Communities meeting, Charlotte Franks explained that the 10% annual climb predates covid. There followed several unevidenced proclamations by councillors outlining the various ways in which parents are responsible to for apparent increase in additional needs - too much screen time, not being adequately stimulated during lockdown, being summer born . . . Accompanied by zero suggestions about what is changing in the school environment which might be making mainstream 10% less accessible for children year on year.
