Can anyone explain how Reform-led councils are an improvement on their predecessors.? Clueless and touchy with it.

Definitely touchy and completely clueless. We did ask Arnull when he was going to revitalised the town centre. However, he mumbled something about a "Task force" or a group a "VIGILANTE" to discuss the County Asylum seekers in hotels.🤣🤣🤣

Reform promised at the election to lower council tax bills. They promised to find tens of millions of pounds of waste to fund that tax reduction. At the time, I thought that they were delusional and lying to the electorate. As expected, they failed miserably. This is a worse failure to deliver on a manifesto than the Tories in West Northants before them or Labour nationally. They are now going to charge for parking in Daventry, Towcester and Brackley which will damage those town centres. Don't trust lying Reform - unless you want to pay each time you visit your GP or A&E after the next GE..

Reform won a majority in WNC on the strength of three simple promises:

• Freeze immigration and stop the boats

• Scrap Net Zero to bring down energy bills

• Cut waste and lower taxes

So far, none of those promises have been delivered. Some were never really within their control, others were always impossible to measure—but voters were sold them anyway and voted regardless.

The failure to find meaningful savings through DOGE was entirely predictable: pushing through the maximum possible rise in council tax while claiming to be the party of lower bills. This is where populism meets reality.

Still, it’s only fair to say this administration has not—yet—matched the chaos of the previous Conservative leadership

This fiscal reality check exposes the classic disconnect between opposition rhetoric and governance constraints. The £50m shortfall at WNC versus £20m in identified savings is basically a masterclass in why populist campaign promises collpase under budget scrutiny. I've seen similar patterns in munciipal finance where new administrations discover legacy obligations aren't just line items you can eficiency away. The garden waste fee jump from £60 to £80 is gonna sting more than the council tax increase for most households tbh.

Let's tell the truth as it is. There are a group of people who have joined Reform UK Ltd as unpaid employees and who's Managing Director, is quite prepared to redicul them in other countries. He has compared Britain to a "Banana" Republic among other things. Reform UK Ltd will never be able to deliver anything meaningful.
