Northants Police launches second murder investigation in a week after man killed in Northampton
A man in his 20s has been killed in Little Billing area of the town
A murder investigation has been launched by Northamptonshire Police after a 20 year old man has been killed in Northampton.
Police have released information this afternoon to say they were called to a home in Flaxwell Court in the Little Billing area of the town yesterday at about 5.40pm.
The man, who has not yet been named, died at hospital. This is the second murder investigation the Northants Police force has launched this week, following the death of an inmate, 49, at HMP Wells prison in Wellingborough. It follows on from the killing of Charles O’Sullivan, 43, who was found dead at his home on November 24 after being involved in a fight in pub in Fish Street, Northampton and on November 10 Harshita Brella, who was living in Corby, was murdered in the town before her body was driven to London and dumped in a car boot.
Police say a forensic post mortem will happen at Leicester Royal Infirmary today and although formal identification has not taken place, the man’s family have been informed.
Three arrests have been made already in connection with the Flaxwell Court murder investigation. Men aged 22, 23 and 25 are currently in police custody.
The Northants force says a scene guard will remain in place at the residential address as the investigation continues and there will be officers patrolling the local area.
Senior investigating officer, detective chief inspector Johnny Campbell, said:
“This is a tragic incident in which a man has sadly lost his life, and our thoughts are firmly with his family at this time.
“We know incidents of this nature can be a cause of concern within the neighbourhood and wider community, and I would like to offer our reassurance that we have a team of dedicated officers working at pace to establish what has happened.
“Although arrests were promptly made, we would still like to appeal for anyone who may have witnessed this incident or anyone with information who has not yet come forward, to please do so.”
Police are due to hold a press conference shortly, but once again will not allow questions from journalists, because they say they have people in custody.
People with any information can call the police on 101 and quote incident number 24000735903.
The series of unconnected murders in Northants comes in the midst of the launch of the Northants police, fire and crime commissioner Danielle Stone’s new public safety plan which sets out the policing priorities for the year ahead.
It will have a focus on community and neighbourhood policing, although specifics about how many more officers the county may have on the beat have not been given, nor any crime reduction targets.
Residents can comment on the plan here.
BBC article dated 18th December 2024, commented that the Police had a plan to name suspects of Domestic abuse for the Christmas period and will published their names and photographs on social media. Who dreamt up this idiotic idea? The Police have already refused to interview the women who came forward with alleged Domestic violence against them by a Northamptonshire Councillor. But, what about the rest of the year? Also, what if the "suspects" were innocent? their pictures and names according to the Police plan would have been published in Facebook and the media without them being found guilty of anything?
In the light of the highly publicised raped case in France as reported today 19th December on main stream media of Gisele Pelicot who have been raped by over fifty men's organised by her husband, raised serious questions about "Domestic abuse against women and girls" worldwide. The Police and the Commissioner are not taking seriously these kind of crime. All they are doing is paying lips services and lots of photos shoots to makes believe. What do you think?
What an excellent report!
My comment on this, is why calling a press briefing if the Police does not want to answers any questions? After all, local Journalists are the voice of the Community. Without them we the Public would be in the dark. Also if the Police wants the public to help then they need the "Partnership" of the public.
