It’s so refreshing to have a PFCC who understands what needs to change.
The Tories stripped away our youth services and the family support of the Sure Start centres and we are seeing the effects these cuts have had on young people and families.
Danielle whilst on the county council knew what the implications these cuts would have and could see the issues it would create further down the road and she was right.
Modern slavery is happening in our communities but is hidden so I’m glad she’s taking a lead on that.
Retail crime is growing at a rapid rate and again by speaking to retailers she understands the impact it’s having on them and by having more visible policing this will hopefully reduce.
I’m sure it’s a breathe of fresh air for the chief Constable and the office to have a commissioner that’s forward thinking and who by working with them will start to turn things around.
When I speak to women they, like Danielle says they do not feel safe once it starts to get dark. Violence on women and girls is increasing and it’s totally not acceptable.
Violence against anyone on any level isn’t acceptable.
The lives we have seen lost because of knife crime and road accidents is heartbreaking and again something that is on Danielle’s radar.
With Danielle, Marianne, the chiefs and CEO’s working together I’m confident we will see change.
I've always thought that there's not a lot for the teenagers and young adults in this, and many other towns. For decades, including my own youth, there is woefully little for our young folks to do, and precious little run BY them, FOR them. It's high time this all changed, as I know quite a few who see very little in the way of a future in this post-Tory, asset-stripped country.
Some really positive stuff here for the future. I wish Commissioner Stone well and all success.
I would just add that may be higher priorities for tackling hate may be in order (after recent events) and strategies to address racial/ethnic disproportionality in police stops and searches?
I had to laugh when i read Sarah interview with Stone. What a load of baloney! Stone has not change anything in that office. All appointees were made by Mold with the exception of her new Deputy. When she got the chance to challenge the make-up of the panel she did nothing. The chance of her to deliver any of her promises are very doubtful.
Many years ago I worked for the YMCA managing their youth provision in Northampton, and I've also run church youth clubs as a volunteer. Danielle is absolutely right about the negative impact of defunding youth provision. If we can unseat the Conservatives in May then maybe we can reinstate the Youth Service and address the causes of youth crime. Abandoning our youth and then arresting them for the consequences is clearly a failed strategy.
I’m so delighted that we have a new broom and that it’s sweeping widely and appropriately.
Reference children of all ages and recent matters that have appeared in the press: The latter has included loneliness among youth's sufferings (and, by the way. of new mothers and oldies too). Add to that the endless articles from various bodies about the importance of green spaces and ‘wildness’ for all.
Just an ill-formed idea of mine: The twinning of all schools and youth hubs each with a local green space. A place they can be wild, joyful and do useful things as well - like (appropriate) tree-planting and / or growing organic food. Then eating it. Because we all need ‘community-belonging’ , ‘communal activity’ and ‘cooperating’ for our mental health.
I should declare vested interest as I’m involved in SCE’s management of green spaces in Northampton and have seen both oldies (and I’m one!) and young folk enjoying accessing green spaces.

The panel now needs shaking up. It’s as bad as under Mold, especially the chair.
And the Cabinet

At last someone speaks of the years of ‘austerity’ or the slashing of youth services and the consequences we are reaping for this generation.
You go for it Danielle, this is one of the greatest opportunities to make change. Thank you for your continued service and community knowledge.
