Closing ranks!

Will the truth ever be revealed?

At least the voters will have a chance soon to make a difference.

The establishment will be pleased that a vocal critic of the hapless Police and Fire Commissioner is gone.

Hopefully the election will produce a new commissioner who will be accept the scrutiny the role needs.

What on earth is the camera operator doing with the current broadcast of today's OPFCC meeting? It's all over the place, but rarely the right place. Constant zooming in on people that are not speaking. I've phoned the council to ask what was going on but could get no satisfactory answer. One woman, who has not said a word 40 minutes in, has been in close up for 25% of the time. I can only assume that she is the operator's mother.

So, how does one get to be Mrs Shields' replacement on the panel?

Being polite seems to get you nowhere with these elephant hide people, but neither does quitting.

The whole Commissioner business is a political stitch up and our Northampton N MP, who shall be nameless, if not shameless, advocated strongly for merging Fire with Police, giving even more power for corruption to the post except that in this case incompetence trumped everything.

I think it’s vital that when commenting on matters raised here, that such comments are honestly made in good faith.

It pains me therefore to have to say that I also have been sometimes disappointed in councillor Shields’ conduct in recent panel meetings. Whilst councillor Magee makes her points forcefully and politely, she keeps her points relevant, in my opinion the same cannot be said for councillor Shields.

It is important to qualify my comments by pointing out that my opinion is entirely based on her performances during televised meetings I’ve watched.

I am grateful to all councillors who serve on the panel, but even when things are fraught, I prefer polite, informed questions. Councillor Shields would have been more effective had she studied councillor Gonzales de Savage’s performances in these meetings. No one would like to see the back of Mr Mold more than he, but he goes about it in a far more discrete, effective fashion, you could almost think they were friends.
