An interesting article from a local perspective. As a Chartered Surveyor with experience in the Education sector I fail to see how if pressed, the government could substantiate that social distancing can take place in schools. Any mention of schools being safe by the government was based on little to no evidence. I would ask any parent as to how they feel teachers can adequately socially distance a room full of 4 year old children and avoid all physical contact.
The lack of social distancing measures in schools, is an inconvenient truth for a government trying to remain popular as a priority over taking the correct course of action.
Personally i would like to know the quality of PPE supplied to schools? and what the scientific advisers have been saying about the effect of school closures on the R number.
Both of these answers i am very confident would fly in the face of any statement from Boris that schools were in fact 'safe' when you consider ALL stakeholders.
