As farcical as this whole sorry situation is, the hideousness of how much this is costing the taxpayer (venue, Beggs, staff and panel members) this is at least blunted slightly, by the equally blunt and cynical statements made by Mr Beggs who seems he has the measure of Adderley. The tennis club comment or the times he adopted a common "saff landan" accent to impersonate a person down the pub to highlight severity of a DV form raised more than a few laughs.
As a KC I'd expect no less from him, but it is still fascinating to watch him dissect the lies Adderley is trying to foist upon the entire populace of Northants, assuming us all to be fools. He would have always known he never planned to give evidence but wasted an entire day of tax payers money with numerous applications to have things thrown out, then delaying taking the stand before at 3.30 with the whole day wasted announcing he was not going to give evidence.
An utter coward who said he looked forward to giving a fulsome response to these allegations has failed to do just that. This is only my opinion but the only viable reason why he could be advised not to give evidence, would be if that evidence would incriminate him further, and the only way your evidence incriminates you is if you are guilty of some degree of wrongdoing.
He spent most of the day pretending to make notes on his copies of paperwork, but if you watched him at length, he was drawing a circle in the corner of the paper, trying to appear aloof and engaged with the process as though he is still of high standing. He is finished and he knows it, yet still cannot grasp this is a situation of his own making opting to lie to the very end.
I think this person needs to make a public apology to all Falkland veterans and the families of those who gave their lives in this conflict. Calling him a Walter Mitty is not enough. Liar is much more accurate.
Absolutely agree Pete. Unfortunately there are too many examples of men and women who get away literally with "murder" on their hand.i.e Paula Vennel. Justice ⚖️ system is broken in this country in my opinion.
Another point to make when Adderley was re-appointed, I did say to him "you stated you were in the Royal Navy?". " yes" he replied. I told him that my spouse had served 11 years. He made a brief excuses that he had to speak to someone else urgently before his presentation. 👋 You have to asked serious questions about the "Independent" person who was charged with overseeing the initial appointment on the 5th July 2028. This was Yvonne Rees (CEO South Northamptonshire and Cherwell District Council, Darren Dovey CFO Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue service and of course Stephen Mold at the time PCC for Northamptonshire .
When you consider the cost associated with these recruitment process (they had 4 applicants ) it started on the 21st May 2018. Selection phase on 18 and 19 June 2018. It had four events: Stakeholders Panel Chair by Nicci Marzec ( Director of Early Intervention OPCC) Question Time' event , Technical Competency Chair by
Paul Fell (Director Delivery OPCC), then finally the Formal Interview conducted by Mold, Dovey and Rees.
Needless to say the panel conducted a
"Robust" interview. Today we know otherwise and all of this we the Tax payer taking for a ride.
I was not given the opportunity to attend to this hearing. Unfortunately, I was a member of the Panel who confirmed his appointment. We were not given a CV we were provided with a Biography. When I showed this document to my spouse who had been in the Royal Navy for eleven years. He commented, that it would have been impossible to have achieved all of what he claimed on his military service. Adding to this he also stated that Adderley was not old enough to have been in the Falklands war. The claims that he made really upset my husband because a lot of services men I.e 255 of them either died or had life changing injuries.
I feel the Police and Crime panel failed in due diligence and delegated, irresponsibly, to the PFCC of that time and further compounded that when a vote of no confidence in that PFCC let him remain. This is not directed at you but at the panel of which you are only a small part. I was unfortunate enough to bear witness to the whole fiasco.

You’d of thought that checks would have been made about everything on his CV.
When a member of my family joined the police force years ago they checked everything about her and all her family.
What another shambles. Wonder why mold wanted him so badly.
Maybe a promise, fuelled by self importance down a club?

I think that should read 5th July 2018.
Whoops...silly finger..should read 5th July 2018.

I was under the impression that to make false declarations, either written or spoken was fraud.
Absolutely 💯 !
