Wellingborough and Rushden byelection live
We'll be blogging for our subscribers throughout what may be an historic night in Northamptonshire
The polling stations have now closed and the counting of the votes in the Wellingborough and Rushden byelection has begun. It’s been more than 4,000 days since anyone other than a Conservative won a parliamentary election in Northamptonshire. Labour’s Gen Kitchen is the favourite to end the Conservative run, but she will have to overturn a 18,500 majority to become her party’s first MP in Northants for more than a decade.
If you’re interested in how the night pans out, then keep checking in to this blog as we’ll be updating throughout the night until the result is announced. There will be the full story in your inbox in the early hours of Friday morning if the county is finished. Bye for now.
