Weekly brief: Cabinet member misses first executive meeting due to holiday

The cabinet member for North Northamptonshire Council’s children’s services says he has no plans to miss any more meetings after sending his apologies to the first ever executive meeting of North Northamptonshire Council.
Cllr Scott Edwards spoke to NN Journal from his holiday in the South West of England and said he will devote ‘40-50’ hours a week to the important role.
Cllr Edwards, who has a full-time job working for Three Lions Security and is also the current mayor of Kettering, says his employer is quite happy for him to do both roles as part of his political life.
He said his holiday was pre-booked and also the executive date had been rearranged. His report about school building works had to be read by another member of the executive at Tuesday’s meeting.
