These kind of announcements by Reform UK Ltd are just a way for them to appear as if they are doing something. If Reform Councillors are seeking private investments, they are just giving away something that was already owned by the residents of Northamptonshire. The experience of WNC is anything to go by is giving it away for practicaly nothing. There is a video on YouTube who illustrate how bad things have become in Northampton Town centre.
No funding then. So there's the rub! It won't happen, at least within the next 5 to 10 years. It has both capital and revenue consequencies. Without funding for both from either Council coffers or loans from the Public Works Loan Board to kick start it nothing will happen.
