Trust boss says numbers of Northants children in care is falling
Andrew Tagg has said support and interventions are preventing children from being taken into care

The numbers of children being taken into care in Northamptonshire is falling, due to better support and interventions, a senior boss within the county’s children’s trust has claimed.
Children’s services in Northamptonshire have been in a terrible state over the past decade, with the government deciding in 2018 to take the service out of the hands of local politicians and create an independent children’s trust after a series of failings including the deaths of two children who had been known to social services.
Formed in 2020, the trust, which is led by Colin Foster has made improvements according to inspectors and embarked on a series of transformation projects and at a North Northamptonshire scrutiny meeting held this week Andrew Tagg said the results of new practices were now being felt.
