An extraordinary meeting has been called by the new North unitary council about a legal issue.
Councillors were told on Friday about the meeting of the full council which will be held at the theatre in Corby Cube next Tuesday at 7pm.
The first ever finance scrutiny meeting of the new authority has been moved out of the way for the special meeting which will be held behind closed doors as the council’s monitoring officer has ruled the matter should be exempt.
The reasons for the exemption, on commercial or personal grounds, have not been listed on the agenda which has been uploaded to the authority’s website.
The rumour mill is working overtime in local political circles with councillors across the different parties guessing what the matter could be about.
One member said:
“We have been told it's a confidential legal matter concerning a legacy borough. Speculation is rife.”
