Senior Conservative expelled from party over bullying allegations

Senior local Conservative Ian McCord has been expelled from the party following bullying allegations made against him. The councillor had hoped to be made leader of West Northamptonshire Council last month but was suspended from the party the day before voting took place.
McCord, who is the former leader of South Northants Council, told NN Journal that he will appeal the decision.
“The local stage of this was a foregone conclusion with no respect for the rules or the published guidelines of the party,” he said.
“I trust that a properly independent investigation will see this for the stitch up that it is. I shall not comment further until the appeal is determined."
The local Conservative party has been contacted for a comment.
