Redundancy axe falls within Northamptonshire’s two new councils
Some senior officers are now surplus to requirements

Senior officers at Northamptonshire’s brand new councils are being made redundant.
Just days after the new authorities were created on April 1, senior officers who have been serving the borough and district councils for a large number of years have been told their services are no longer required.
Between them the former eight authorities had employed several thousand staff, with employees being transferred over to the North or West authority from the start of this month.
Many are continuing to work from their existing offices or remotely, with the West having a head office at One Angel Square while the North has not as yet designated a headquarters.
NN Journal understands that around 80 senior staff (classified as tier 1-3 staff) had been told their jobs were at risk at the end of last year.
