Police commissioner’s office says ‘clearly something went wrong’ with sacked chief constable’s vetting - but won’t say yet whether proper checks were done
A review has begun into what was done to vet Nick Adderley before he took office, with its findings anticipated to be made public next month

The Northamptonshire Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (OFPCC) has begun a review into whether sacked police chief Nick Adderley was vetted - eight months after his initial suspension.
Dishonest Nick Adderley was dismissed last Friday and has been barred from ever working for the police service again, after the panel running his disciplinary hearing found that he had lied on his CV and made false claims about being a Falklands hero.
Questions have been asked for months about how Adderley, 57, even got the top job that came with a £165,000 plus salary, as his career history and personal life should have undergone extensive checks due to the level of responsibility he was being entrusted with.
