With the Met Office this week issuing an extreme heat weather warning followed by warnings of flooding, we look at a new global alliance to tackle the climate emergency.
Northamptonshire Greens have welcomed the creation of a new global alliance which has been formed to push for policies which create a “greener and fairer” world.
The Global Alliance for a Green New Deal is currently made up of 21 politicians from across the world who are calling for lawmakers and citizens to join them in their aim to “transform our societies and economies”.
The group, which was launched this week, says that despite bills for a Green New Deal being tabled in various countries including the UK, none have led to a “transformative package of policies that are simultaneously socially just and ecologically sufficient”.
The type of policies the politicians want to see would transform how we travel, the way we grow food and how we value the people who care for us and the way we work.
