Levelling Up: 'What we have to do is stop yapping and lets get working together'

Calls for action to help level up the three left behind areas in North Northamptonshire have been made.

The first public meeting of North Northamptonshire Council’s Levelling Up scrutiny review was held via Zoom on Tuesday night and brought together representatives from public agencies across the county to make suggestions about what can be done to improve the lives of people living in some of the most socially disadvantaged areas of the county.

Avondale Grange in Kettering, Hazel Leys and Kingswood in Corby and Queensway in Wellingborough are among 225 communities in the country (alongside Kings Heath and Talavara in Northampton) which have been acknowledged by the government as being areas which suffer from higher levels of deprivation coupled with poorer community infrastructure than other places.

Following a motion by Cllr Zoe McGhee the unitary authority set up the scrutiny review last summer, with the intention of looking at the issues being faced in the areas and making suggestion…
