Left behind areas will be first in queue for backlog repairs
North Nothamptonshire Council follows through on its pledge to focus on bringing left behind areas up to scratch

Tenants living on Corby’s Kingswood and Hazel Leys estates and the Avondale Grange estate in Kettering will be the first to have their long-awaited housing repairs completed.
North Northamptonshire Council (NNC) has decided to take £900,000 out of the reserves from its housing revenue account (HRA) to tackle a backlog of almost 6,000 repairs across its 8,050 homes in Kettering and Corby.
At a scrutiny meeting on Tuesday, NNC’s executive member for housing Cllr Matt Binley said he had directed the new team which will be in charge of carrying out the repairs to head to the Kingswood and Hazel Leys estates and Avondale Grange first. (However he could not give a date for when work would start).
The areas are among three parts of the county which have been recognised by the government as falling behind in terms of deprivation and social infrastructure.
