It's the summer holidays: Here's our What's On guide
From visits to new museums, country parks and secret picnics there's plenty to do in Northamptonshire this school holiday.
As the school holidays start on Monday we thought we’d share details of some of the activities going on across the county this summer to help keep the kids entertained.
Wellingborough: Made with Many and Warts and All Theatre are hosting the Borough Bash events this month, with the first event kicking off tomorrow (July 18).

Corby: Pleasure Garden at Deene Park.
Set throughout the grounds of 14th century Deen Park pleasure garden in an exhibition of new and existing art works exploring how the relationship between the natural and human world.

Sywell: Open water swimming
Why not try one of the fastest growing sports in the country and jump into the water at Sywell Country park (Washbrook Lane). Sessions are from 8am to 11am every morning and children must be aged over eight and all under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Booking details here
Kettering: Wicksteed Park Contemporary Art Exhibition
Running until July 31 this free exhibition at the park is featuring artwork by members of Kettering and District Arts Society. The exhibition can be viewed at the Learning Centre on Wednesdays and weekend. More details here
Northampton: The Whisper Tree
Take a stroll from the Royal and Derngate theatre in Guildhall Road down into Beckets Park with an innovative audio performance. With a free illustrated map created by local artist – Fridge Street – available to download all you need is headphones, a pen and a phone to be ready to set off on your treasure hunt to find The Whisper Tree. Irchester: Jungle Parc
Always a winner is the Jungle Parc at Irchester Country Park. There are two courses to explore and children must be aged four and above. £15 per child. Booking details here
Stoke Bruerne: Bug Hunt
Take part in pond dipping and a bug hunt in Stoke Bruerne. Everything you need is provided and the event is completely free. For dates and booking details click here.
Stanwick: Movies by the lake
Watch a movie in a beautiful lakeside setting. Stanwick Lakes will be showing a number of films throughout the summer. For full listings and booking details click here.
Northampton: The dinosaurs are coming to town
Ritchie the Raptor, Zeus the T Rex and Tank the Triceratops will be visiting Northampton town centre on Saturday July 24. Shops and restaurants will be joining the fun from July 24 to August 14 with ‘Dino diner meal deals’, special offers and other activities.
Northampton: Museum and Art Gallery
Northampton’s newly renovated museum and art gallery is now open. With exhibitions, events and activities running throughout the summer there’s lots to see and do. More details here.
Rushden: Rushden Rangers
Rushden Lakes is kicking off the summer holidays with the return of Rushden Rangers. There will be a wild walk on July 22 with themed educational activity trails around the lake.
