‘It’s a kick in the teeth’: Union consults members over pay at academy trust
Brooke Weston Trust could face industrial action from staff

Brooke Weston Trust, which runs eight schools in the county, could be facing industrial action over a decision not to offer support staff a pay increase this year.
North Northamptonshire Unison says a survey has been sent out to gain members’ views and a meeting to discuss the issue has been arranged for later this month. The union says depending on the outcome, industrial action could be considered.
Unison says last year only staff working on the lowest pay bands received a small rise to bring them up to just above the minimum wage and all other support staff received nothing.
“These staff have worked tirelessly throughout Covid keeping children safe, educated and calm,” Kev Standishday, branch secretary at Unison said.”
“They’ve received loads of praise but they are asking for and need pay not praise. Praise doesn’t pay the bills or put food on the table. Two years with no pay rise while inflation continues to increase really is a kick in the teeth to the staff.”
