As a subscriber and regular reader [not always the same thing], I can't let Natalie's departure go without thanks for her excellent work and wishing her well for the future.

HI Sid. Yes, I'm gutted Natalie has left, although of course happy for her new job. Will be sending our members a round up of her stories over the past two years in a special post on Saturday.

Congratulations on a great piece of in depth reporting on the proposal for a new massive carpark at the railway station. As well as the cost being so prohibitive, the concept is definitely and horribly outdated. The railway station site stands on the remains of a once great Northampton Castle. The building proposed, let alone those to follow, will block the view to the West which made the castle strategically important. Friends of Northampton Castle have been campaigning for ten years to create a heritage green space just east of the station and this might create a much more viable and environment for any new build proposals, but it would need to start from the desire to provide a place for both local residents and tourists to enjoy. The Car Park is not the way to progress!

I like the idea of borrowing money at whatever cost and passporting it to godknowswhere. Smacks of another MacInspire project. Nunn but the lonely have access to these secrets in the Cabinet of Horrors. Open Government ? Don't make me cry.

Typical of WNC. The ratepayers would pay but after 40yrs Network Rail would own it. What a farce.

Railway car parking and employment commuting is “dead in the water” since Covid and working from home which is not going to change again in our lifetime.

Together with ongoing decline in the town retail business and footfall reduction…..where is plan B such as house building and leisure facilities?

The February 2022 report on the illegal levels of air pollution in Northampton clearly indicates the need for improving public transport, but the council continues to assume that encouraging car use is the top priority. £40 million pounds' worth of electric buses would serve us better than 400 extra parking spaces.

I'd also like to give a huge vote of thanks to Natalie for her sterling service to the county, and wish her all the best in her new role.

I would second the vote for Natalie.

I hope she has an equally good replacement.

Regarding pollution, I have long considered the powers that regulate the traffic light/ pedestrian lights as the main contributors to making this worse. Most engines do not cut off but idle and pollute. The worst in town is at White Elephant.

Then there are the dangerous junctions at Round Spinney and Parklands that our Councillors do nothing about.
