We need a solution that benefits the whole of the Nene and Welland river systems.

Dealing with the climate change will be a very long term solution so in the meantime we need to slow the flow of water upstream as has been done with the River Parrott in Somerset so it is evened out over the year.

Nobody is in prison for causing this week's widespread disruption, damage and death throughout the country. However, dozens of climate activists are in prison for trying to prevent it. Our elected politicians are clearly incapable of rising to the challenge. We should release the protesters and put them in charge of climate change mitigation.

The reason why Billing Aquadrome was developed as a caravan site is because it was known that the land was unsuitable for permanent housing. When the university relocated to its Waterside campus on the Nene floodplain I remember being told the new buildings had to be raised by several feet to mitigate risk of flooding.

Built in the 1980s. I think not.

River Tose ? Doesn't appear in my Journal article on Northamptonshire Rivers (that water the Country) NNHS publication.

Big problem is the very large drop in altitude from the Northampton uplands to the river bed on the plain over a short distance. Just blame the last ice age packing up, Council is working on it.

Excellent report Sarah! We live only a few meters from Billing Brook. In the last five years the Brook has silted up. In heavy rain is then swept away and piled up against the wear causing dangerously high water level. The banks of the stream are crumbling away adding to the problems. I reported this a number of times to the environment agency, council etc..Recently I contacted all newly elected MP's in the county. Six of the seven have washed their hands off the subject completely, saying they cannot represent constituents outside their own constituency. However, I have only now had a response from Mike Reader saying a review will be made after the winter next year. He also seems to be banking on the effort of a "windbag" like Cllr Gonzalez. Another Councillor who love photo shoots holding a portfolios of important documents. Opposition councillors are not much better. Ultimately there are seven new MP'S in this county were flooding is a major problems, yet they will not act as a group in forcing through what Northamptonshire really needs is an adequate flood defence system.

What are they waiting for?

Surprised you even had a reply from North Northampton's Labour MP.

Now has the excuse that she's a "minister" type.
