It appears the Labour Party is disintegrating at both a national and local level as a consequence of loosing it moral compass and the traditional values that Labour stands for. Their attacks on the poorest in our society (the disabled, pensioners those with more than two children etc), it's disgraceful immigration policies and failure to welcome historic immigration to the UK, it's support for the Israeli government in committing genocide in Gaza, it's failure to move rapidly to net zero and thereby contributing to global heating and its continuing support for the rich who are growing richer by the day whilst the poor are getting poorer) is shameful.
But rather than a reassessment of why things are going so wrong the LP appears to be hunkering down in the bunker and threatening members if they show dissent. No wonder so many historic supporters and members are dissolusioned and seeking alternatives.
Gen Kitchen may well be right about Swanspool gardens and the failure of the town council to cease an opportunity to improve our town (and I agree on this - the Tory controlled council is bereft of ideas and solutions to it's decline) but her reaction was disgraceful.
Gen Kitchen should be suspended from the house for 14 days for bringing the role of MP's into disrepute over her foul langage. Then a recall petition can be invoked, get Labour out, REFORM in.
The Labour Party is falling apart. It’s traditional working-class base, many of whom came back to them after voting Conservative in 2019 to break the Brexit paralysis, have discovered they have moved squarely towards the centre-right and only seem to care about their middle-class metropolitan voters (many of whom are in London).
Reform will capitalise on this come 2029, especially now Corbyn has created his own party.
I'm confused what the option B was that the council was going to vote for that she was so upset about? While her behaviour is not laudable, I do understand the frustration of putting a lot of work into getting funding (that the town sorely needs) to renovating and reusing a historic and pretty building for the community, only for it to be scrapped.
Anyone care to enlighten me what happened at the town council meeting?
I cannot tell you how let down I feel by Labour only to read this and wake up to more national humiliations!
Not reported on NN was the national story behind the criminal activity with cigarettes and correlating that with a Northampton's Alderman's business who was fined for illegal cigarettes to children.
We need to respect our politicians and police but how can we with Northampton's track record?
This is absolute rubbish and typical behaviour of narcissistic long term members who don’t appreciate new people coming into the party and sharing new ideas. It’s their way or the highway!
As someone who was present at the meeting when the alleged bullying took place, to hear and see these individuals playing the victim truly sicken’s me.
As for Matt Reay, he left a WhatsApp group after calling a member "hostile" for sharing his opinion and backing the hard work of others. He was then called out on it by other senior members.
After leaving he promptly rejoined the group so he could leave a "throwing your toys out of the pram" message, saying he was leaving the Party and left the group again. Absolutely pathetic!

In the last four months the Northamptonshire Green party gained 125 new members. That's one per day. Many are refugees from the Labour Party.

Good riddance to Labour AND the Tories.

Option a and b were about different locations on the site for the proposed adventure golf course.
We did not attend the meeting but here is the report from the Northants Telegraph. https://www.northantstelegraph.co.uk/news/people/future-of-wellingborough-swanspool-gardens-and-pavilion-in-doubt-as-new-council-rejects-adventure-golf-attraction-5190699
Bullying and harassment, horrendous!

Mr Rielly is protected at the top of the chain!
He should be made to step down, the complaint was upheld.
What’s more worrying the guy is a teacher at a local secondary school where he has a role to monitor and tackle bullying
How is he protected at the top of the chain??? By who???

Bullying complaint was upheld by the Labour Party after an investigation.
Been hearing about issues in Corby Labour for as long as can remember.
That’s the problem. If you don’t support their way of thinking then you’re a bully
Shut up mark
Shut up mark
Not Mark but it just goes to show how low you individuals are that you think he’d make that post whilst he’s dealing with family tragedies.
