The hospital has been below the expected standard for many years

An inspection by the hospital watchdog has found a catalogue of concerns about the medical care KGH is providing.

Staffing shortages, lack of training and elderly patients being put at risk have all been highlighted in the Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection which was published this week following an unannounced inspection in May.

The hospital, which has been below par for the past decade, retained its overall requires improvement banding and was assessed as good in the areas of caring and well led, but was heavily criticised by inspectors in the crucial area of how it cares for elderly patients.

They found that not all staff have been given mandatory falls training, incidents were not always being properly recorded and they came across patients at risk of harm during their visit.
