Northants former chief constable was excused from attending crown court this morning, as another charge has been added to those already made against him.
Nick Adderley, who was sacked from his job in June last year following a gross misconduct hearing, had a new charge of making a false witness statement added to the alleged fraud and public misconduct offences, at the court hearing which took place at London’s Southwark Crown Court this morning.
Adderley, who was in charge of the Northants force for almost six years, did not appear in court as his legal team had applied to the court that he be excused from the hearing due to health reasons.
The fraud offence relates to the CV he used to apply for the job in 2018 in which he allegedly made false claims about the length of his naval service and the activities he undertook. He had claimed that he served in the Falklands War, even though he would have only been 15 at the time. The misconduct in public office offence relates to allegations made against him during his time as chief constable from 2018 to 2024.
A date was set for him to next appear on February 20 for a plea hearing. A provisional trial date has been set for December 2027.
