Established parties held steady in town council elections and Green's cemented their Kettering dominance
The lack of interest by Reform in the town council elections meant the established parties kept control, with a Green party exception in Kettering.
The Reform UK upset that bulldozed through the Northants unitary council elections last Friday did not filter down to the town councils.
Farage’s party did not stand many candidates across the town council elections and as a result they remain largely similar to the councils that stood before May 1 (apart from Kettering where the Green’s had barnstormer of a win).
While having significantly smaller budgets, less powers and less services, the town councils have local importance, although it remains to be seen what relations between the unitaries and the smaller town and parish councils will look like.
