It’s been decided. Northamptonshire’s two new unitary councils will be under Conservative rule.
The party, which has dominated the county’s politics for the last decade and more, is once again firmly in charge as the Northamptonshire electorate returned 60 Tory councillors in the North and 66 in the West.
Labour had a lacklustre performance, although kept it’s stronghold in Corby but it was the Liberal Democrats who had a very disappointing night, not managing one councillor in the North and just five in the West.
