I'm not surprised that the other councils are reluctant to have WNC and NNC join the regional group. The Conservatives bankrupted Northamptonshire County Council, and we voters in our wisdom rewarded their incompetence by voting in the same people to run the subsequent unitary authorities! 1st May is less than four months away, there will be only 76 councillors in WNC rather than 93, and quite a few of the old guard will the standing down. Let's hope the voters are willing to spring clean!
What other County councils would wish to partner with Northamptonshire may i ask? They have a history of driving themselves into debt. Do they really thing that devolution will sort out all of their debts problems? I am pretty sure that Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Luton etc..are not willing to bail out Northamptonshire. Why should they?
As a wise person once wrote “We trained hard—but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams we were reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing, and what a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while actually producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization.”
Private Eye this week voted former leader 'Shit of the Year' so not great leading up to this meeting.
Quite a trophy!
I run a nursery. I have to submit huge amounts of details to local council on each child to get paid. Today we timed 3m20s to get into typing one’s child’s details. We have 160 or so children. All nurseries were told if any part of children's details is missing they would remove their funding to the nursery! Horrible! They are going to remove the funding in April 'they say' after we have provided free childcare for a term?
All nurseries judiciously completed this information, the useless system lost the children's information and we all need to redo our work! FIASCO! Oh and I had to make yet another underpayment claim for £10,000.

1'Absolutely broken by the whole situation… what about our mental health??? Feel sick every time an email comes I feel sick… every time I have to complete a task I feel sick… every email apologising for something that has been brought to their attention (!!!!) makes me feel sick… every time a payment is due I feel sick…
2'This is an absolute disgrace! I am supposed to be self employed! Not working for the council…'
'Hold on so this means we might not get paid AGAIN?
3 'I've been funded for under a year and I've had issue after issue with this system. We should all get compensation for the stress of it all. It's annoying I now need to take further time away from the children to rectify their mistakes again. I bet you are all in the same head space as me.'
4' I appreciate they will pay us somehow, even if based on Decembers headcount, but I have additional children on funding this term so will actually be at a loss. Parents would have been paying before and at the beginning of the month, so now we could be waiting 2 months for this extra payment. January is tough enough as it is especially when HMRC tax bill is due.
I get it’s not the teams fault but they seriously need to sort the system out. It’s just getting worst. The system has never run smoothly but it’s been a nightmare since the additional funding started.'

They were not voted in I believe, I think the system allowed them to stay in without a re-vote
