Conservative mutiny as two leave North unitary and Rothwell Town Council becomes independent

The decision by North Northamptonshire Council’s executive to push ahead with a temporary traveller site has provoked a ‘Rothwell Rebellion’

Two North Northamptonshire councillors representing Rothwell have decided to leave the party, along with five of their town council colleagues over plans to turn a green space into a temporary traveller site.

Cllr Cedwien Brown informed the Kettering Conservative Association yesterday afternoon that herself and Cllr Joseph Smyth, along with a number of town councillors would be leaving the party.
