I watched the YouTube transmission today of Northamptonshire Police, Fire, and Crime panel with some dismay. At the start of the meeting, the Chair said that there was no questions from the public. Why is that? The simple anwers is, the vast majority of Northamptonshire public are sick to death with the carry on of the OPFCC. They are wasting valuable resources and are just plain incompetent. Some of the Councillors have made good points to the Commissioner. However, in some cases it would appear that Stone did not understand the point being made I.e from the former police officer.
The statement about not knowing of the litigation is one that just does not gel with facts.
East Midlands legal services invoices need signing off by someone.
The Chief's witness statements need to be signed by someone, there are monthly risk reviews that the leadership team examine, the press office is aware of litigation that needs press statements.
CCJ exist on the registrar of judgements.
Complaints about unfulfilled SARs and mistreatment of BWV handled by the DPO (who works out of Darby House in the same office as OPFCC) would be handled by the OPFCC.
I fear the statements made today on a formal and very public record will come back to haunt all involved in trying to carry on the cover up.
A totally unacceptable situation is allowing Commissioner Stone to conduct an inquiry into what happened and who knew what and when which will be a whitewash with a few hapless police juniors thrown under the bus for good measure. Members of the public can have no trust and confidence unless a truly independent investigation is carried out forensically. The seriousness of Northamptonshire Police found lying to the judiciary and guilty of contempt of court cannot be over-stated. And the Chief Constable does not resign or is forced out of office? Danielle Stone has one fundamental role only and that is to hold the Chief Constable accountable. She has failed to do so and she should go also.
That the inquiry is being led by Danielle Stone's deputy is farcical. She doesn't have the know-how or experience needed. She is a Labour Party person appointed to her present position by Labour's very own Danielle Stone. Far, far too cosy an appointment. Cronyism is not restricted to the Conservatives.
Then, let us not lose sight of the fact that it was Commissioner Stone who appointed Ivan Balhatchet as Chief Constable, a long-standing officer who was Deputy to the disgraced Adderley for many years. That should need no further comment or elaboration.
Concerns about the inquiry being purportedly independent are heightened by Danielle Stone stating that it is her intention to appoint a "gold command group of senior officers to look at the matter". Ludicrous when it apparent to all who follow the performance of Northants Police that this is a police force, as demonstrated by the Buzzard Quashie case, willing to lie and not comply with court orders. The problem is patently at the top levels of this police force and the solution is clear. To allow them to mark their own homework beggars belief.
Over to Reform politicians to stop this fiasco taking place. This should be an opportunity forReform to do the right thing but will they?
