Cobblers deal: Meeting cancelled as councillors raise concerns about sale price
Councillors were expecting to attend a meeting on the deal next week

A planned meeting to provide councillors in West Northants with full details of the proposed deal over the development of land next to the Sixfields stadium has been cancelled, NN Journal understands.
Negotiations between the local authority and County Developments Northampton Ltd (CDNL), which is owned by Northampton Town Football Club, have dragged on for years but earlier this month NN Journal exclusively revealed that a deal had been agreed subject to approval by the cabinet.
A condition of the deal is that the long awaited work on the stadium’s East Stand, which came to a halt amid the scandal of the missing £10.25m loan from Northampton Borough Council, is completed.
The council initially intended to present the deal at a full council meeting next Thursday but sources say it was agreed that a separate meeting would be held the day before to allow more time to look at the deal in detail.
