In this week’s Friday brief we bring you the latest on the murder of a teenage boy in Corby; residents’ fears over land development proposals in East Northants; concern from health watchdog over dentist problems during lockdown and we take our journalism workshops into schools.
Corby Business Academy student Rayon Pennycook, 16, died on Tuesday evening after being fatally stabbed on a road close to the town centre.
Three teenagers were arrested shortly afterwards and police were given a 36 hour extension by magistrates yesterday to further question the boys in custody. At the time of NN Journal going to press last night no-one had been charged in connection with Rayon’s death.
In the wake of the murder, councillor John McGhee has called for more youth investment in the town. The area does not have a dedicated youth service following cuts more than a decade ago by Northamptonshire County Council. On social media Cllr McGhee said a dedic…
