Another highly paid consultant at West Northamptonshire Council

West Northamptonshire Council is paying a consultant £900 a day to fill its assistant director of education role.

Chris Kiernan was taken on by the authority in May after it failed to find a suitable permanent candidate.

The news of the amount he is being paid comes after NN Journal exclusively revealed last month that the authority is paying legal officer Geoff Wild £982 a day.

A spokesperson from West Northants Council said: "Following an external recruitment campaign we were unable to appoint to the Assistant Director Education role with the skills and experience required. Chris is with us on an interim basis and has made a significant impact on the service. We will be carrying out a new recruitment campaign for the role in the future."

Ann Marie Dodds, the new director of education in the North Northamptonshire Council, is also working through an agency.
