‘An opportunity wasted’: West Northants’ levelling up bid comes in for more criticism
Councillors say the proposals are disappointing

Opposition groups slammed West Northants Council’s proposed bid to the government’s levelling up fund at a cabinet meeting last night.
Earlier this week, NN Journal reported that both unitary councils were facing criticism for their favoured projects for the bid including one at Delapre Abbey in the West and another at Chester Farm in the North.
Prior to the meeting 13 projects looked set to be put forward by the unitaries with just two being in any of the county’s ‘left-behind’ areas. One of those would see £3m investment into parts of Queensway in Wellingborough and the other is for a £40m leisure scheme in Weston Favell which sits just inside the Talavera ward of Northampton.
