Nominations closed for all those wanting to stand in the general election on Friday and there will be 47 candidates across the seven constituencies in the county.
The biggest five parties The Conservative Party, The Labour Party, Liberal Democrats, The Green Party and Reform UK will be standing a candidate in every Northants constituency and other parties hoping to gain Northamptonshire votes are: The Workers Party, Social Democratic Party, Alliance for Democracy and Freedom. Five independent candidates have put themselves forward.
Our analysis has found that less than a third of the candidates are women (15). Labour has five women contesting the seven seats and the Green Party has four women making up its seven hopefuls. Of its candidates The Conservative Party only has one female candidate, Reform UK’s candidates are entirely male; and the Liberal Democrats have two female candidates.
